Getting Started

What is Kryven Legacy?

A digital legacy organizer for iPhone and iPad. It helps you keep essential information clear, encrypted, and shareable with trusted people, so your family knows what exists and what to do next.

How does Kryven Legacy fit with Apple Passwords and Kryven Vault?

Each app has a distinct purpose. Apple Passwords handles logins, passkeys, and one-time codes — it's already on your iPhone. Kryven Vault handles personal documents: IDs, passports, insurance, credit cards, warranties. Kryven Legacy handles family handoff planning — a digital roadmap of what exists, where it is, and who to contact. Use all three together for complete coverage.

Is Kryven Legacy available on iPad and Mac?

Kryven Legacy is available on iPhone and iPad now. Mac support is coming in a future release.

Do I need an iCloud account?

Yes. Kryven Legacy uses iCloud for cross-device sync, secure entry sharing, automatic backups, and encryption key storage. iCloud+ is not required, but provides additional storage.

How do I set up biometric authentication?

Open Settings → Security → toggle Biometric Authentication on → choose Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode → confirm. Optional but recommended.

Security & Privacy

How is my data encrypted?

Kryven Legacy uses a zero-knowledge design with AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption. Your entries are encrypted on your device before anything syncs — no one but you can read them, not even Kryven. Keys are stored in Apple Keychain and iCloud Keychain. See the Security page for full details.

Can Apple read my entries?

No. All entry content and attachments are end-to-end encrypted on your device before they reach iCloud — Apple stores only encrypted data it cannot decrypt. Four metadata fields (category, created date, modified date, and favorite status) use Apple's standard CloudKit encryption rather than app-level E2EE. Apple encrypts these in transit and at rest but holds the keys. These fields contain no entry content or personal details.

What are the metadata fields that aren't end-to-end encrypted?

Four fields use Apple's standard CloudKit encryption instead of the app's end-to-end encryption: category (e.g. Financial Assets, Real Estate, Digital Accounts), created date, modified date, and favorite status. These are needed for sorting and filtering in the app. Apple encrypts them in transit and at rest, but holds the keys. No entry content, personal details, or sensitive information is stored in these fields. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Can Kryven Legacy employees read my entries?

No. Kryven has no servers and no user accounts. Your data lives in your iCloud account — we have no access to your encryption keys or encrypted data, and there is nothing on our end to breach.

What happens if I forget my device passcode?

You can factory reset your device through Apple's recovery process. After signing back into the same iCloud account, your entries sync back and your encryption keys restore automatically from iCloud Keychain — as long as iCloud Keychain was enabled on another signed-in device.

Is my data safe if my device is stolen?

Yes. Device passcode, biometric lock, on-device encryption, and remote wipe via iCloud all protect your data.

How do you handle privacy?

No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no third-party data sharing. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Should I store full sensitive secrets in Kryven Legacy?

Best practice is guidance-first: store hints and metadata — what exists, where it is, who to contact, and next steps. For example: "deed copy is in the red bag" or "safe access uses our family code word." Avoid putting full raw secrets in plain text when a reference is enough.

Features & Limits

How many entries can I store?

Free: up to 10 entries. Premium: up to 1,000 entries.

What types of entries can I store?

Eight categories: Financial Assets, Real Estate, Digital Accounts, Health Directives, Legal Documents, Debt Management, Employer Connections, and Physical Assets.

Can I add custom fields to entries?

No. Each category has predefined fields designed for that entry type. No setup needed.

How many attachments can I add?

Up to 5 attachments per entry, 5MB each (25MB total per entry). You can add attachments from your camera, photo library, or files. Attachments are compressed and encrypted automatically.

What should I use attachments for?

Attachments work best as visual guides that help your loved ones find what they need. Good examples:

  • Photo of where a key or safe is located
  • Photo of the outside of a filing cabinet or storage box
  • Scan of a cover page showing the provider name and policy number
  • Screenshot of a contact card for an advisor or attorney
  • Photo of a property or vehicle for identification

Avoid attaching:

  • Full bank or brokerage statements with account numbers
  • Complete tax returns or financial records
  • Unredacted identity documents (full SSN, passport data pages)
  • Documents containing passwords or PINs in plain text

The goal is orientation — enough for someone to know where to go and who to call, not a full copy of the document itself.

How do I search for entries?

Tap the search icon and type. Results filter across titles, field values, and categories as you type.

How do I delete an entry?

Swipe left → Delete → confirm. Deleted entries are soft-deleted for 30 days so you can restore them if needed.

Sharing & Collaboration

How do I share entries with someone?

Entries are shared through groups, not individually. Create a group, add participants, then add entries to that group.

How do I create a shared group?

Open the sidebar → Create Shared Group → enter a name → add participants by email → tap Create. Entries must be explicitly added to a group — they are not shared automatically.

How many people can I share with?

Free: 1 shared group. Premium: up to 25 shared groups, each with multiple participants.

How are shared entries encrypted?

Each group has its own encryption key. All entries in the group are encrypted with that key, so only authorized participants can decrypt them.

Can I revoke access to a shared entry?

Yes. Open the group → Manage Participants → swipe left on the person → Remove. Access is revoked immediately.

Can I manage shared groups on iPad?

You can view shared groups and their entries on iPad, but creating, editing, deleting groups, and accepting share invitations are only available on iPhone.

Import & Export

What file formats can I import?

Kryven Legacy Bundle (.klgcy) — encrypted bundles exported from Kryven Legacy. Import requires Premium.

How do I export my entries?

Settings → Export → choose format (CSV, JSON, or .klgcy) → choose scope → Export → choose save location. Export is available on all plans.

What's the difference between CSV, JSON, and .klgcy?

CSV: spreadsheet-compatible, no encryption, no attachments. JSON: structured data, no encryption, no attachments. .klgcy: encrypted, includes attachments. Use .klgcy for backups. Re-importing a .klgcy bundle requires Premium.

Pricing & Billing

What's the difference between Free and Premium?

Free: 10 entries, 1 shared group, manual export. Premium: 1,000 entries, 25 shared groups, automated backups, review reminders, custom retention. All plans include encryption, sync, and offline access.

How much does Premium cost?

See the Pricing page for the current breakdown, limits, and billing options. App Store pricing may vary by region.

Can I upgrade or switch plans?

Yes. Open Settings → Subscription → choose your plan. You can switch through Apple subscription settings at any time.

What happens if my subscription expires?

You keep access to your entries, but premium-only features (import, automated backups, reminders) are disabled until you renew.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.

Technical Issues

Kryven Legacy won't sync. What do I do?

Check your internet connection, confirm iCloud is enabled in Settings, force-close and reopen the app, wait briefly. If still not syncing, restart your device and confirm iCloud storage is available.

Why can't I see a shared entry?

Confirm you accepted the invitation and are on the correct iCloud account. Force-close and reopen the app. If still missing, ask the owner to resend the invite.

Why is my attachment not uploading?

Check that the file is under 5MB, you have an internet connection, iCloud storage is available, and you haven't hit the 5-attachment limit per entry.

Why is my biometric authentication not working?

Confirm biometric is enabled in Settings → Security. If your biometric has changed, re-enroll it. Use your device passcode as a fallback.

How do I update Kryven Legacy?

App Store → your profile → find Kryven Legacy → Update. Enable automatic updates to keep it current.

Can I use Kryven Legacy offline?

Yes. View, edit, and add entries offline. Changes sync automatically when you're back online. Sharing and import require a connection.

Keychain Recovery

What is iCloud Keychain and why does Kryven Legacy use it?

iCloud Keychain is Apple's secure credential storage. Kryven Legacy stores your encryption keys there so they sync across your Apple devices without ever being exposed to our servers.

How do I protect myself from losing access?

  • Stay signed into iCloud on more than one device
  • Keep iCloud Keychain enabled (Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Passwords & Keychain)
  • Secure your Apple ID with a strong password and two-factor authentication
  • Export regular encrypted .klgcy backups via Data Management

What causes encryption key loss?

Most cases follow iCloud sign-out, keychain reset, device reset without another signed-in device, or Apple ID changes. The safeguards above prevent most of these. If keys are permanently lost with no backup, encrypted entries cannot be recovered.

Can I recover my entries if I lose my keys?

Yes, if you have a .klgcy backup and its password, or another signed-in device that still has your keys. Without either, recovery is not possible.

I lost access to my entries. What should I do?

1. Check another Apple device on the same iCloud account — open Kryven Legacy there.
2. Check for a .klgcy backup — use Import in Data Management to restore.
3. If neither applies, see the Still Have Questions card below.
